Response to Toward a More Participatory Democracy

When reading "Toward a More Participartory Democracy" by David Kline and Dan Burstein you read about how much blogging has affected our society as a whole. The beginning of the reading sort of is based of the 12 keys ideas that we read about in a sense that it brings up examples with blogging and its impact on politics. First glance at reading it says that "no one reads blogs" and "nobody pays attention", but reading on you read that "Since the election, political blogs have continued to demonstrate an extraordinary ability to atract and keep readership". What I find most interesting is how many people actually 'blog'. I had really only eve heard of it at first on myspace, and thats all I ever thought, but I didn't realize people all over the world everyday have blong entries. "Political blogs have become a vital source of news and opinion for millions of Americans and an alternative to traditional newspapers and television"(6). After reading that quote the way I took it was as if people relied on blogs in a way and stopped relying so much on what is known as the "real media". This reading shows me just how much people rely on blogs and use them in their everyday lives, I find it weird that people are starting to fade away from television and newspapers and are becoming more intersted in blogs that people write even though your not really sure as to what is true. Everyone has a different opinion whereas the media tries to go by what everyone wants to hear or abides by.
